Welcome to our August update! Each month, our aim is inform and inspire you. Featuring industry insights from the world of youth and parent marketing, a showcase of some recent campaigns and agency news.
News & Highlights
It’s safe to say August has kept us on our toes so far! The first mention of Christmas, back-to-back annual leaves resulted in a longer lead time for campaigns, the quietest month for some sectors and a crucial planning month for education.
Our Influencer campaign for the new CoComelon Kids Learn & Play App went live in the US, we submitted a new tender for an education client and in the first week of the month we produced two on location shoots.
We’ve also been spending time with our clients, delivering masterclasses and practical workshops highlighting the latest developments across Spotify & TikTok. If you would be interested in hearing more about our masterclasses, please reach out to us on info@wearerocket.co.uk.
Our final highlight this month is all about our wonderful new Campaign Assistant! Sonia is a recent Marketing grad, and after doing her placement year with Samsung brand team last summer, with a focus on engaging Gen-Z audiences, we are thrilled she has joined us and has hit the ground running.
Campaigns
Our campaign with Moonbug Entertainment for the new CoComelon App went live this month! We are delivering the influencer campaign in the US for the launch of their brand new app, CoComelon Kids Learn & Play.
A cross-platform campaign with leading parenting creators to show how the new app can integrate into family life. From home-schoolers to travelling families, you will see the content continue to roll out throughout August and September. Here’s a preview of some live activity.
Our Family Collective have been busy this summer! We’ve created content with our families for brands such as Beano, Collins Education & Nat Geo kids. We’ll have these case studies live soon, for now here’s a previous campaign for Little Oxford.
We’ve been dancing this month with Oxford Children’s for the release of The Twirly Wiggly Dance! A lovely collaboration with creators in the UK including Romy Explores & OB World.
And finally, #BookTok but not as you know it this month for The Creative Act. A campaign for Canongate Books & Penguin Press spanning the US & UK to drive engagement and sales globally. Take a look at this video from creator, Louisa.
Insight: Media Landscape
Platforms and media owners are really turning up the tempo with solutions and creating innovative ways to reach Gen-Z, and their parents.
This month, we’ve seen Pinterest release new data on how Gen-Z are using their platform. They are currently the most active generation on the platform, saving 2.5x more Pins and creating 65% more boards than other audience groups. You may have heard from our previous Rocket Fuel episode with Pinterest, that they describe themselves as the ‘social platform for looking forward’. Brands engaging this audience should be looking forward to see how they can be present on this channel.
We have seen TikTok leading the conversation to help brands with their ‘back to school’ campaigns, how best to use the platform and engage with youth audiences.
Spotify have also launched new ad formats to add more touch points for audiences. In recent research Spotify say that “multi-format campaigns on Spotify result in a 90% increase in ad recall.” We are seeing huge success from video ads on Spotify at the moment and would love to help you plan your next campaign and create the audio content you need for this approach.
Our offering at Rocket spans the full content marketing mix and we’re really enjoying adding in new test activity to plans and strategies, across all platforms.
It’s essential we keep moving with the media landscape and will be launching new masterclasses soon on some recent findings, do let us know if you would like to be kept in the loop!
You may have also noticed the conversation around AI is continuing to build momentum as it develops, and audiences begin to use it more and more.
We already know youth audiences use social platforms instead of search, but we’re now seeing data emerge to suggest youth audiences are using AI, before reaching to search engines such as Google.
We’re helping brands navigate change with their SEO strategies, and also the content they are creating for social to ensure maximum visibility.
If you would like to talk to the team about any of these updates, please send us an email. You can reach us on info@wearerocket.co.uk.
See you in September!
